Politics & Religion | [Un]Conventional Wisdom

This week we continue our series contrasting conventional and unconventional wisdom. Conventional wisdom holds that politics and religion are separate spheres, and they should never be combined. After all, Jesus did say, “Give to Caesar what to Caesar’s,” right? But what does that mean? Is it, perhaps, actually a brilliant bit of unconventional wisdom?

That’s what we explore in this week’s teaching. If you're interested in joining us, we gather every Sunday at 10:30AM at 4710 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville. We also have a podcast on your platform of choice! Follow @gracepointetn on every social media platform for regular updates and Progressive Christian content, and text "GracePointe" to 77977 to donate if you are so inclined.

Does the Bible Clearly Say Anything? | [Un]Conventional Wisdom

This week, we continue our series contrasting conventional and unconventional wisdom. How many times have we heard or said “the Bible clearly says” followed by a statement that is assumed to be orthodox?

But does the Bible clearly say anything?

That’s what we’ll unpack in this teaching.

Does God Help Those Who Help Themselves? | [Un]Conventional Wisdom

This week we continue our series contrasting conventional and unconventional wisdom. When someone says, “God helps those who help themselves,” it’s rarely in the context of things going wrong. It’s actually a statement born of (unconscious) privilege. In this message, we unpack that privilege and talk about a better way to think about God.

An Update from the Leadership Council

We are so incredibly excited about the future of GracePointe. When we set out to move back to Sunday mornings at Clementine last October, we had envisioned a time when our community would grow to the point of needing more than one service. If you were not able to be with us yesterday, then you may have heard that we are planning to move to two services starting September 8th. The fact is that this Summer, our community has grown exponentially, both during our Sunday morning services and through Care Groups. Our mission of providing a safe place for people to question, deconstruct, and reconstruct is being fulfilled with your help.

Does Everything Happen for a Reason? | [Un]Conventional Wisdom

This week, we continue our series contrasting conventional and unconventional wisdom. People often say, “Everything happens for a reason,” a phrase which seeks to find meaning in the events of life. But is that true? Would it even be comforting if it were? Perhaps, if we look for it, there is an unconventional approach to finding meaning in the circumstances we experience.

If you're interested in joining us, we gather every Sunday at 10:30AM at 4710 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville. We also have a podcast on your platform of choice! Follow @gracepointetn on every social media platform for regular updates and Progressive Christian content, and text "GracePointe" to 77977 to partner with us as we realize belonging together.
